OUR STORY

The Pellerin name all started with Alcide Pellerin in 1956, when Rheal and Richard’s father started a painting contracting company, Pellerin Brothers, with his brother Amédé Pellerin. Rheal followed in his father’s footsteps and joined his paint crew at the young age of 17! It wasn’t until 1977, when Rheal got approached by Crown Diamond, known as Sico today, to be the first dealer in Northern Ontario. Crown Diamond wanted to partner up with Rheal due to the reputation his family had built and Rheal saw the opportunity to reach a new market: the do-it-yourself. It was a win win for everyone! 

They first opened on Main Street in North Bay, with a total of 900 square feet. Rheal would continue to paint during the day and took night courses to learn accounting with his wife, Joyceline. Norm Degagne (Moose), Rheal’s brother-in-law, would manage the store. Richard Pellerin, the youngest of the Pellerin Family, joined the paint crew full time 5 years later, at the young age of 18! Pellerin Painting faced many challenges over the years, but its foundation built on family values and dedication has made this company a pillar in our community, for paint products and services.

Today, Pellerin Painting, is owned by Rheal and Richard Pellerin and has grown to a third generation! Patrick Pellerin, Richards son, now owner and manager of the paint store, is eager to continue the Pellerin Painting name. The store is now 10,000 square feet, offering the largest inventory of paint in the area. Joyceline has passed her torch as bookkeeper to Patrick's wife, Anik. The paint crew continues to revamp homes and commercial spaces in North Bay and area. Richards two youngest boys, Justin and Mathieu have also decided to join the family business and are gaining valuable experience working on the paint crew. The whole team at Pellerin Painting work together as one big family! They've made great relationships with their customers over the years, many becoming great friends. We look forward to helping our community for years to come!

Richard Pellerin

Owner

Having spent most of his career on the paint crew, Richard has extensive knowledge and experience working with all products available at the paint store. Now working in the store, he is very thorough with every customer to ensure everyone leaves with the right product, tools and helpful “how to” tips! You might find his voice familiar, as he does all our radio advertising and he oversees all marketing.

Rheal Pellerin

Owner

If it can be painted, Rheal has done it! He started painting in 1966 and definitely knows how to get the job done right. He oversees the paint crew and does the contracting estimates. His experience allows him to give customers on-the-spot quotes!

Patrick Pellerin

Store Manager/Owner

Patrick, Richard’s son, definitely inherited the Pellerin passion for paint! He takes care of all the store purchasing and special orders. He started working for the family business at the young age of 12 and has become a colour expert! As store manager, Pat makes sure the store runs as efficiently as possible and is a great leader for the team.

Debra Strengh

Store Clerk

Joining the team in 2015, Debra quickly became a member of the family! Always eager to help customers, she will look for the best approach to accomplish any project. Having worked many years in the paint industry in the Muskoka region, she has great experience to share. Deb is very approachable and will always do her best to answer all customer questions.

Anik Pellerin

Bookkeeping

You’ll often find her in the office taking care of invoicing, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Having a BA in Business Administration, Anik always looks to enhance business organization and business processes. Anik enjoys interior design and loves helping customers with colour selection!

Jessica McLaren

Urban Decor Manager & Store Clerk

Jess has made a big impact as our newest member of the team. She's always on the lookout for unique home decor items and has a great eye for interior design. Having spent her whole career in retail, Jess thrives at making customers feel welcomed . A very hard worker, she'll do her best to help you with your project. 

Mathieu Pellerin

Painter

Mat, Richard's youngest son, recently joined the paint crew. Always wanting to have a happy customer, Mathieu will go the extra mile to make sure the job is finished right. He is a team member that everyone enjoys having around. 

Justin Pellerin

Painter

Justin, Richard’s son, is always on time and he’s a very reliable team member. He gives 100% at everything he does. Justin has developed great painting skills and has become a valued team member.
